Where can i get the basic tutorials for flash action script?

I know, before you guys start screaming rtfm i just want to say that the manual in flash is not helpful. At least not yet. What i want to know now is where can i write my code? I'm so confused where my code is targeting at when i launch the action script window. Please helpWhere can i get the basic tutorials for flash action script?
A great way to learn is through already completed swf animations that show you how to make it + the outcome.
